The past few years have seen the dawn of a new generation
for many instruments used in the geosciences, such as ultra high
resolution and multi-collection ICP-MS and SIMS, opening new
fields of investigation. Geoscientists are, therefore, faced
with new challenges, from the accuracy of the data they produce
to their geological interpretations. Besides new developments
in more conventional techniques, the GEOANALYSIS
2000 Conference has focused on these "state of
the art" analytical techniques and their applications in
the geosciences.
All of the presentations were part of a symposium or a special
session (see scientific program)
focusing either on the technique (including instrumental coupling)
or on their fields of application and the constraints they permit.
Contributions have focused on the analysis/analytical technique
itself, including performance (accuracy, reproducibility), problems,
needs, applications, horizons, etc.
