Summary
This is the seventeenth survey in the series of Geochemical Reference
Sample (GRS) Bibliography published in Geostandards Newsletter
and is designated as Part XVII in the series. Part XVII contains
references extracted from major analytical chemistry and geochemistry
journals that have become available to the author between January
and December 1996. A few earlier ones which were not available
at the time of the previous report (Part XVI), together with those
which were inadvertently overlooked, have also been included.
During the current
review year, a total number of 205 references have been collected.
This number reflects the immense importance of GRS in geoanalysis.
This year, more than 7,500 new results have been reported; compilation
data were ignored in this total. Some thirty journals have published
articles related to the analysis of GRS or reported analytical
results during 1996. Data in Table 1 show the distribution of
the GRS references in the literature. Geostandards Newsletter
and Fresenius' Journal of Analytical Chemistry stand out clearly,
both by the number of individual papers and the amount of new
data.
