Summary
Beginning with this issue, we inaugurate a new Column on references to papers published on Geochemical Reference Samples of minerals, rocks and ores (GRS). The first contribution in this Column, named GeostandaRef Corner (short for Geostandard References Corner), concerns papers which have appeared in analytical and geochemical journals from January 1979 through December 1980.

The practical usefulness of such a column seems self-evident. The dissemination of analytical results on GRS in many different analytical and earth science journals is a real obstacle to an easy flow of information among geoanalysts. It is one of the aims of Geostandards Newsletter to collect or set pointers to such data.

In addition to papers dealing with the presentation of new data on GRS, references to papers dealing with the general problems concerning GRS will be also given:

- methods of preparation
- homogeneity studies
- critical evaluation of compiled data
- information on new GRS.
